I managed to get this still from one of the videos. I knew there was a fireball, but it doesn't look that big when you're firing it!

Most authorities agree that you'll be fine shooting .308 Winchester in a 7.62 x 51 NATO chamber, but MAY run into issues going the other way. The drawing for the NATO cartridge shows a slightly longer neck allowed but as far as I know all of the North American armouries load the 7.62 to the same length as commercial .308, you usually will only run into issues with European loaded 7.62. As you're going .308 to 7.62 it really isn't an issue. I was watching a Youtuber shooting various Nitro Express solids into OSB blocks. The .416 Rigby and the .505 Gibbs made it 31" and 30". The .600NE made it 25", .577NE made 27". If we get about half of the penetration with softs the 18" might do. I have no idea what mono-metal bullets would do.

If everyone who has said, "I'm coming!" makes it we'll have ten shooters. If we have three including myself show up this first time I'll be thrilled.

Something like a square of layered OSB clamped together? Or a sand box?

I was testing the 505 Gibbs with softs and it was denting the AR500 at 100m.

525 grain Woodleigh Weldcore with 140 grains of RL25, velocity is 2280 fps. I think at that recoil level that limiting the shoot to ten fast shots is more than enough!

Two months left in the season and we've had a great year so far! We have some new regulars, and we usually have close to two full squads of shooters every night. With the clubhouse renos complete we have a nice place to take a break from the sun, or to dodge the rain and have a little break. If you haven't tried trap out yet we hope you take the time to do it, everyone who comes has commented about how much fun they've had.

35 rounds of .505 Gibbs ready to go! That's enough to practice and shoot the course with ammunition to spare.

The June 19 evening was beautiful, warm, just a touch of a breeze, and no mosquitos until we were packing up to leave at the end of the night.

This was an excellent course and the instructor was great. I highly recommend attending one if you're able to.

It was weirdly fun. I would have kept shooting had I brought my waterfowl gun instead of the high gloss Browning. The new all orange White Flyer AA clays are a touch easier to see than the two tone ones as well. At least in the overcast and rain.

The rain started just as we started shooting. It wasn't a little bit either. I dropped out at the end of the second round as I had water pouring out of my Browning. In a backhanded way I guess the rain was a good thing, I bought that B-80 about twenty years ago and never cleaned it before. It's very clean now!

Jim is just about to break this clay. We saw some excellent scores considering the wind which made the rounds challenging. Once clays start to drop they aren't supposed to start going back up. Then down. Then back up again. Or never climb at all. Or randomly jump up five feet.

It was a little bit grey, and only 12°C but we had a squad and a half come out to the first evening of trap. We had a shooter tie his high score from last year on his second round. Our newest shooters, with no trapshooting experience were shooting over 50% by the end of the evening. I have to congratulate the shooters, they were all great to be around and talk to as well as compete against. I hope to see more of you!

Doubles Trap will be back for those who want to try it out. The machine has been serviced and repaired, it's been tested for function (I suck at doubles) and I'm currently excavating the concrete (it's been a while since we've had this available). Once we have that finished and some of the scrub brush trimmed at the edge of the trap field we'll be ready to go.
